A familiar sight to most CF Families is the glory that is the Vest and all that goes with it. Not only is this beast heavy (ours is about 30 lbs) it has a lot of tubing and accessories to go with it. Having the ability to move it with ease is a life saver, I’ve been on the hunt for something to make ours mobile.
We have a Smart Vest, the older version as I’ve noticed they’ve upgraded it since we received ours. It is larger than most other Vest companies version so it doesn’t fit great in the Ikea Cart that most rave about. I decided it would be best to just create something special for it, so it would have all the features needed. My father is rather handy so he was able to whip this up in an evening.
Materials:
- Mover’s Dolly – 18in” x 12″
- Dowel – Cut into 4 sections that are 11.5″ each
- Base of the Lid – 18″ x 11″ (we sized it this way based on the wood we had)
- 2 Long Sides – 16 1/2″ x 2″ x 3/4″
- 2 Short Sides – 11″ x 2″ x 3/4″
- 2 Coat Hooks
- 4 Dowel Screws – To be honest I don’t know the exact size that was used.
It was a pretty simple screw / pin nail together project, here are some photos during the process. We used scrap wood for the top shelf and sides.
I’ve added a basket to the top shelf since these photos to hold Nebulizer parts and cups. Kitty loves how versatile it is, she can roll it around her room or to another part of the house and isn’t trapped to an area. Before we build the cart, we just had the Vest system sitting on the Movers Dolly with a belt holding it down.
What do you use to hold your Vest?
