CF Parenting and Working From Home

CF Parenting and Working From Home

When you have a child with CF keeping them healthy and being available for all of their appointments and hospital stays is top priority. When both parents have out of the house jobs this can become tiresome and hard to manage.

For the first 2 years of our daughters life I was able to stay at home with her while working for a family friend as a Human Resource Manager for their small business. It was perfect for us because most of the work I could do at home, and when I did have to go into the office it was on my terms. Plus I was able to take our daughter with me.

After the company dissolved I had to get a job outside of the house, for the next two years I realized how important it was for me to work out of the house. We had scheduling conflicts, many hours in the car driving to and from a sitter. It was taxing on everyone. I knew that there were many real jobs that I could do from the house so I set out to find one that would work for my family.

I tried the direct sales route and neither company I started with panned out for my needs. I’m not a great seller, and to make direct sales work you really have to push the product.

I started googling and pinteresting like crazy trying to find out how to find a work at home company and finally I was able to find the perfect job for me on Craigslist. It’s a real company with a w4, and benefits plus it’s only part time so it works great with our home school schedule. So many companies today hire an at home work force from Apple, Dell, Amazon and American Express just to name a few.

I wanted to share many of the links that helped me in my journey so hopefully it will help someone else in theirs. I suggest starting out by making a list of your skills, LinkedIn can really help with this, but it’s best to know what kind of job you can do, and what you have to offer before starting your search. Also know if you’d be able to do Phone work or not.

Here are some great Facebook pages to go and Like, they post Work at Home job listings often and tips and tricks to finding the perfect job. On their websites, at the top there is usually a “Fresh Job Leads” link with a list of mostly really w-2 type jobs.

Other great Links:

There are so many ways to make money without having a 9 – 5 job, you just have to be open to the hunt and know what your family needs. There have been scarifies on our part for having me at home but at the end of the day it is worth it.

If you know of any other pages, or information that you’d love to add to my list please comment and let me know. I’d love to add it.
